We arrived in the Quito Airport at about midnight on a flight that was two hours late. We were worried that the driver who was to meet us wouldn’t have waited and we’d have to find a cab at in the middle of the night and then the hotel would be closed when we arrived. But all our worries were for naught. The drive to the hotel was surprisingly long – 44 kilometers and we got stuck in a traffic jam at 1:00 AM. A black pick-up truck was next to us. In the bed of the truck was una bonita senorita, with long flowing dark hair that she caressed often, kissing a little Chihuahua dog on the lips. The dog was wrapped in a thick wool blanket to keep it warm. Now you don’t see something like that every day!
