Our next stop was near Briones where we found a huge and complete wine museum called Vivanco Museum of Wine Culture. In 36,000 square feet they cover types of grapes, and what soils they grow in, grape growing, grape diseases, grape growing equipment such as plows and tractors, making wine, making wine bottles, making corks, making barrels, art related to wine, a huge corkscrew collection, the history of wine, the ancient gods of wine, wine goblets etc. It was thorough, well done, and Complete with a capital C. The videos were extremely well done. There was even a little wine tasting. It was interesting to compare this museum experience to the typical wine tasting experience offered by most wineries. Perhaps we need a wine museum in California.
